Cartilage Repair

ASMOC is an internationally recognized leading center of Cartilage Repair/Restoration. Dr. Gillogly is one of the early pioneers in autologous chondrocyte implantation, a procedure designed to grow healthy joint surfaces following injury and thus prevent the onset of arthritis. He trained in Sweden with Dr. Lars Peterson. Diffuse cartilage wear often leads to total/partial joint replacement.  With focal cartilage defects, options are available, such as microfracture, osteochondral autograft transplantation, allograft transplantation, autologous chondrocyte implantation, and biologic cartilage substitutes.  Concomitant ligament ± osteotomy may be performed as indicated.
