DeLeon J. Burch MPT, CSCS
DeLeon J. Burch was born and raised in Florence, SC by a loving and supportive family who instilled in him self worth, hard work, honesty, responsibility and accountability. DeLeon credits his current level of accomplishment and future success to these family values and lessons learned while spending countless hours studying at the dinner table and sweating on the practice field.
In 1998, DeLeon moved to Atlanta, GA to attend Morehouse College (MHC). While at Morehouse, DeLeon became one of three individuals in school history to earn a BS degree in Biology while performing as a 4 year starter on the Maroon Tiger Football team.
His interest in physical therapy was sparked after undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and six months of Physical Therapy to return for his senior season.
After graduating from MHC in 2002, DeLeon attended Georgia State University (GSU) where he earned a Masters of Physical Therapy Degree in 2005. While at GSU he was awarded the Gordon S. Cummings Award recognizing those individuals whose work promotes self-learning, critical thinking, caring, and competence, and he co-authored an article in Physical and Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics evaluating the influence of mental practice on physical performance.
Since graduating from GSU, DeLeon has spent the last six years practicing and gaining valuable experience in the fields of orthopedics, sport medicine, and neurological physical therapy (PT). He also earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the NSCA (2008).
In June 2011 he joined Atlanta Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center (ASMOC) as a full time physical therapist.
In addition to working for ASMOC, DeLeon works as a PT in the Spinal Cord Injury department at Shepherd Spinal Center. Outside of his career, DeLeon enjoys spending time with his wife and family, staying physically fit, reading, and relaxing with friends.
