Renee Doddington, PT, DPT

Renee Doddington, Physical TherapistGrowing up in Panama City, Florida, Renee’s interest in physical therapy was sparked after witnessing the amazing impact physical therapists had on the life of a close friend who nearly lost his life in a car accident during high school.  This inspiration, coupled with her years of training in dance, made a career centered around restoring proper physical movement enabling others to regain an active lifestyle the perfect choice.

Renee attended college at the University of Florida where she graduated cum laude in 2004 with her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science.  She continued on at UF to attend graduate school, earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in the spring of 2007.

Following graduation, Renee began her physical therapy career at an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Marietta, GA where she worked with a wide array of patients spanning from high school athletes to geriatrics.  She continued on to practice at an occupational medicine clinic specializing in work related injuries and pre-employment physical screenings.  Renee joined the dynamic physical therapy team of Atlanta Sports Medicine in June of 2009.

Renee has a strong interest in manual therapy and has completed a significant amount of continuing education in that field thus far.  She has successfully completed half of the courses required for certification as a functional manual therapist through the Institute of Physical Art, including training in advanced soft tissue mobilization techniques, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), and back education/training.  She has also completed courses in advanced mobilization of the lumbar and cervical spine through the Manual Therapy Institute.  Renee is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling through GEMt and is currently pursuing her manual therapy certification through the Maitland approach.

Renee is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in which she is a member of the Sports/Orthopedic Section and the Performing Arts Special Interest Group.  She is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT).
